REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKERS INFORMATION
Practising Certificate Application Forms 2008/2009
Practising Certificate Application Forms for the 2008-2009 year will be mailed out by the SWRB office in May 2008 for return before 30 June 2008.
A Social Worker's current and legal registration status is dependent on returning this form. An APC will take effect as soon as the application and payment is received. When the form has been processed and approved you will be issued with an Annual Practising Certificate and an APC ID Card (an APC ID Card was issued for the first time in 2007-2008).
Forms must be completed in full, including the following sections:
- Declaration by your nominated referee

Fit and Proper Criteria
-
Registered Social Worker's Declaration
-
Declaration if not practising this APC year in the form of a written explanation
-
Remittance advice details (when paying by direct credit use your
Registration ID number and the words APC 08/09 as reference).
If you have not received your renewal application notice please contact the SWRB office, either by phoning (04) 931-2650 or sending an email to info@swrb.org.nz.
Remember that you must advise the SWRB of any changes to either your employment address and/or mailing address within a month of changing your employment/ job or home address.
Expiring Competence Certificate
Registered Social Workers are required to be in possession of a current competence certificate, as per Section 44(1) of the Social Workers Registration Act 2003, which states that:
'A registered social worker who wishes to retain his or her practising certificate must complete a competence assessment at a time during the period between -
(a) the day 4 years and 9 months after the social worker last completed a competence assessment;and
(b) the day 5 years and 3 months after the social worker last completed a competence assessment.
Invitation to Registered Social Workers
Complaints Assessment Committees are appointed from time to time by the Chair of the Social Workers Complaints and Disciplinary Tribunal to investigate and determine a course of action for a complaint. Registered Social Workers are invited to register their interest in becoming part of a pool of people who could be appointed to Complaints Assessment Committees.
